Police Drill Near Prudential Center In Newark Will Affect Traffic, Close Streets
The Sept. 21 emergency drill will include Newark police SWAT and OEM teams.

NEWARK, NJ — A mock active police emergency drill will close down streets near the Prudential Center in Newark to traffic on Thursday afternoon, authorities say.
Lafayette Street between Broad Street and Mulberry Street will be closed during the Sept. 21 drill. The drill will also encompass Green Street, although this street will remain open, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to plan alternate routes and to expect delays in the area between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. during the mock drill, which will involve “a scenario of people fleeing the building.”
