Missing Newark Boy Found Safe; Left Note For His Mother: Police

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Newark police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing 10-year-old boy, authorities say.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Tajh Preacher, 10, of Newark, was reported missing on Friday. The boy’s mother found a handwritten note from him around 4 p.m., which said he was running away.

Preacher was last seen on the 300-block of Chadwick Avenue in Newark, police said.
Authorities said Preacher is 5 feet 2 inches and 120 pounds. He has a low haircut and is wearing a brown-hooded sweatshirt, with a “Marvel” t-shirt (see photo below). He was also wearing red Crocs.

Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the Police Division’s website.
