Police Probe Fatal Shooting On Union Avenue In Irvington

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Essex County on Monday night, authorities say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Irvington on Monday night, authorities say.

Irvington police responded to the 100-block of Union Avenue around 10 p.m. after getting reports about gunfire and a wounded victim.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the street.

The victim – later identified as Anwar Jackson, 42, of Piscataway – was pronounced dead at the scene.

No additional information was immediately available, prosecutors said.
