President Biden Joins Mourning For Late NJ Congressman Donald Payne

NEWARK, NJ — Another high-profile politician is mourning the loss of U.S. Rep. Donald Payne Jr. of New Jersey: President Joe Biden.

Payne, 65, a Newark resident, was hospitalized earlier this month after he suffered a heart attack related to his diabetes. His death was announced earlier this week.

On Friday, President Biden joined them, writing the following message of condolence on social media:

“Don Payne was an accomplished public servant whose strength and generosity of spirit won him love across his district and the U.S. Congress. Jill and I send our thoughts to Don’s family – especially his wife, Beatrice, and their triplets – and with the people of Newark.”
