Public Hearing On Special Housing Units At Essex County Prison
The Essex County Correctional Facility Civilian Task Force will host a public meeting on Oct. 22.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The Essex County Correctional Facility Civilian Task Force will host an in-person public meeting on Saturday, Oct. 22.
The task force’s Special Housing Units (SHU) Subcommittee will discuss issues related to the jail’s SHU, a news release stated.
The task force – established as a watchdog presence at the county-run prison in Newark – will told the meeting from 10 a.m. to noon at the New Jersey Reentry Corporation Building at 936 Bergen Street in Newark. The meeting will also be livestreamed on Facebook here.

Officials said that anyone who wants to offer comment or questions at the public hearing can register from 11:30 a.m. to noon, time permitting. Public comments will be limited to discussion regarding special housing unit-related issues. Register for public comments here.
