Railroad Crossing Repairs In Newark Scheduled For This Week

The New Jersey Department of Transportation will be making railroad crossing repairs in Newark from March 31 to April 2.

NEWARK, NJ — The New Jersey Department of Transportation will be making railroad crossing repairs at Elizabeth Avenue and Route 27/Frelinghuysen Avenue in Newark this week.

According to Newark public safety officials, Peddie Street between Elizabeth Avenue and Route 27/Frelinghuysen Avenue will be closed due to the repair work from Tuesday, March 31 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2.

Peddie Street eastbound detour:

  • Motorists on Peddie St. eastbound will be directed to turn left onto Elizabeth Ave.
  • Turn right onto Concord St.
  • Turn right onto Route 27/Frelinghuysen Ave. (back to Peddie St.)

Peddie Street westbound detour:

  • Motorists on Peddie St. westbound will be directed to turn right onto Route 27/Frelinghuysen Ave. (southbound)
  • Turn left onto Concord St.
  • Turn left onto Elizabeth Ave. (back to Peddie St.)

Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes, authorities said.
