Rally, March Will Commemorate 1967 Newark Rebellion

The People's Organization For Progress will hold a march and rally to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the 1967 Newark Rebellion.

NEWARK, NJ — The People's Organization For Progress (POP) will hold a march and rally on Sunday to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the 1967 Newark Rebellion.

According to a news release from the group, the rally will start at 2 p.m. at 250 Springfield Avenue in Newark. Speakers will include family members of those who were killed and residents of Newark at that time, as well as community leaders and activists. (Learn more about this event)

The rally is being co-sponsored by the Young Professionals For Justice.

Organizers wrote:

“This is an annual POP event and has been held almost every year since the group was founded in 1982. Participants will march to the area police precinct and back. The event is free and open to the public. All are invited.”
