Rep. Donald Payne Honors 3 Military Veterans From North Jersey

Payne paid tribute to Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker, Air Force veteran Debbie Skeete Bernard, and Army veteran Tony Goodson.

NEWARK, NJ — U.S. Rep. Donald Payne paid tribute to three military veterans from North Jersey as part of an annual Veterans Day Celebration on Wednesday.

Payne, who represents the 10th Congressional district in New Jersey – including part of Newark – honored the following people:

  • Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker, chair of the Veterans Committee in Essex County
  • Debbie Skeete Bernard, an Air Force veteran from Union County
  • Tony Goodson, an Army veteran from Hudson County

“This Friday, we remember the sacrifices of the 18 million veterans across our nation,” Payne said. “This includes the more than 340,000 veterans who live here in New Jersey. We must never forget their countless sacrifices which have made all our lives better.”

“Veterans are our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, and neighbors,” the congressman added. “They are the foundation of our nation, the backbone of our democracy and the pillars on which our liberties stand. They are men and women of incredible valor, bravery, and integrity. And we owe them a debt of gratitude that would be impossible to repay.”
