Ribbon Cut On Newark's Newest Affordable Senior Housing Complex

The Terrell Homes Senior Housing complex will offer "100 percent affordable" housing to residents of New Jersey's largest city.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark officials recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new senior housing community in the city: Terrell Homes.

Located at 91-97 Chapel Street, the Terrell Homes Senior Housing complex includes 69 units of age-restricted apartments. The “100 percent affordable” housing is restricted to seniors 55 and up, who are earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income.

Developed through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Section 18 program, the project represents the first phase of the broader redevelopment of the Terrell Homes site and is subject to a 30-year deed restriction.
