Robert Treat Academy Volleyball Goes Back-to-Back

Robert Treat Academy Charter School (10-0) hosted Learning Community Charter School (10-0) in a battle of unbeatens to determine the 2025 CSAL Volleyball Championship.

The Robert Treat Academy volleyball (RTAVB) team captured it's second consecutive championship winning 2-0 with a score of 25-21 and 25-18. Both teams went out and gave it their all in a very entertaining match from start to finish.

This season was very special for the RTAVB squad as they were the first team in their school's history to ever repeat as champions. RTAVB never lost a set this year and outscored their opponents by 275 points in just 10 games with one win by a forfeit. This group will be graduating five of its starters and several other role players but they are eager to get back to work and start over with a fresh new squad. The standouts throughout the year was Jeremy (78 total points, 20 service points won, 27 defensive points, and 31 aces), Sophia (74 total points, 35 service points won, 4 defensive points, and 35 aces), Keysha (71 total points, 51 service points won, 3 defensive points, and 17 aces), Alexzander (47 total points, 24 service points won, 7 defensive points, and 16 aces), Katherine (37 total points, 27 service point won, 2 defensive points, and 8 aces), Cailee (33 total points, 20 service points won, 4 defensive points and 9 aces).

As for our role players: Jimmy (27 total points, 10 service points won, 11 defensive points, and 6 aces), Jose (20 total points, 7 service points won, 1 defensive point, and 12 aces), and Jaimane (8 total points, 2 service points won, 1 defensive point, and 5 aces).

The RTAVB program was introduced in the 2023-2024 school year. In those two years, this group posted a 21-0 record and only lost three sets in the past two seasons. Their ability to grow together and play as a team is what made them so successful. Coach Bush said, "This was the best group of people that I have ever had the opportunity to coach. Each and everyday they put in the hard work to be a better version of themselves. It was an honor to coach the first ever volleyball team at RTA. This group set the tone from day one and created an unbreakable culture which brought us together as a family. 21 straight wins. 2 division titles. 2 CSAL championships. This will never be done again in the history of RTA- in any sport. The best team to ever put on an RTA jersey." Coach Juste backed that up saying, "We started the volleyball team last year not knowing what the outcome would be. This team was able to set the record high. Winning two championships in a row is quite impressive for a newly established team. This team has made RTA History, one that may not be replicated again. I am incredibly honored to have coached such an amazing group of young athletes the last two years."

This was a memorable season for all of the players, coaches, parents, and fans of Robert Treat Academy. After it was all said and done, the players had a moment to reflect back on the season. Let's hear what they had to say:

"Finishing off as a graduate and 2 time champion was unbelievable. It wouldn’t be possible if we didn’t come together as team and one big family. Every single player on this team had their ups and downs, but we never had a losing mentality. We went on the court and gave it our all. Mr. Bush and Ms. Juste believed in us and knew we were capable of anything. This team created history as well as inspired others to keep that positive momentum moving forward. This was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. This team gave me a passion to pursue volleyball in high school and continue to inspire others that consistency and determination makes you accomplish anything. I want to thank Mr. Bush because he is an incredible coach and gave me the opportunity to show my talent. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t be where we are now. This is something unforgettable that nobody will ever forget at Robert Treat Academy" -Katherine
