Saint Vincent Academy Celebrates 150th Anniversary at Annual Gala

Newark, New Jersey - September 19, 2018 - Saint Vincent Academy will host its 33rd annual gala, Friends in Concert, on September 27, 2018 at 6pm. Celebrating 150 years of educating young women in the City of Newark, the gala celebrates and acknowledge all those who believe in Saint Vincent’s mission and help continue her mission by providing access to quality education for our students.

This year, SVA will be honoring our founders and our future. The Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth are our founders and have sponsored Saint Vincent's since its inception in 1869. As of July 2018, SVA has become separately incorporated and formed a Board of Trustees. This Board represents our future. Along with the tributes, the Friends in Concert gala will include entertainment by the Park Avenue Singers and a special 50/50 raffle.

Celebrated professionals, leaders, and supporters are expected to gather for the highly anticipated annual event. Friends in Concert is one of two major fundraisers hosted by the school. All proceeds raised at the event will benefit the education of the young women who attend SVA.

Our founders, new Board of Trustees and school community are celebrating the Academy’s Sesquicentennial in a spirit of pride and gratitude. We look forward to celebrating with many alumnae, friends, and supporters,” said Sister June Favata, Administrative Director.

SVA’s gala has always attracted a diverse group of philanthropists, elected officials and leaders in the greater Newark community . Past honorees have included many respected community, corporate, and educational leaders.
