Security has been beefed up in New Jersey after a terrorist attack that killed at least 39 people at the Istanbul airport,

Port Authority police have added high visibility patrols equipped with tactical weapons and equipment at Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International airports, according to the Port Authority.

The agency continues to monitor the situation in Turkey and is collaborating with federal, state and local law enforcement partners to include the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to the Port Authority.

The action is being taken "in addition to the diverse counter-terrorism patrols at various Port Authority facilities following the attack on an Orlando club earlier this month," according to the Port Authority.

The State Police, meanwhile, says it's in contact with all its law enforcement partners but says "we don't see any threats to New Jersey" at this point.

The State Police says it's utilizing its intelligence center operations based in the Trenton area and is asking people to call 1-866-4-SAFENJ if they see anything suspicious.

The New Jersey Transit Police Department also continues to coordinate intelligence efforts with federal, state and regional law enforcement parties to secure New Jersey’s mass transit system, the agency says.

"We encourage our customers to remain aware of their surroundings and to be the eyes and ears for law enforcement – if you see something, say something. The number is 1-888-TIPS-NJT,’’ the agency said in a statement.
