Senior Citizen Struck, Killed In Newark While Crossing Street: Police
Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian-vehicle crash that took place in Newark on Sunday.

Newark, NJ – Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian-vehicle crash that took place in Newark on Sunday.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place around 6:05 p.m. at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue, when a 75-year-old male that was attempting to cross Bloomfield Avenue was struck by an eastbound 1997 Toyota.
Prosecutors stated that the victim, a Newark resident, was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin, authorities stated.
The driver of the Toyota remained on the scene, according to prosecutors.

An investigation is being conducted by the Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
