Several Hurt After Fire Truck, Car Collide In Newark: Authorities

The fire engine was responding to an alarm at the time of the crash, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — Three firefighters and the occupants of a car were injured in a crash near the Prudential Center in Newark on Sunday night, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is investigating a motor vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and a Newark fire engine at the intersection of Lafayette and Mulberry Streets.

The fire engine was responding to an alarm at the time of the crash, authorities said.

Three firefighters and occupants of the passenger vehicle were treated at area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries, prosecutors said.
