Sex Assault, Home Invasion Suspect Arrested In Essex County: ECPO

The suspect has been linked to a string of sexual assaults and home invasions with burglaries in Irvington, prosecutors said.

IRVINGTON, NJ — Police recently arrested a suspect who has been linked to a string of sexual assaults and home invasions with burglaries in Essex County, prosecutors announced Friday.

Kedwens Auguste, 23, has been charged with several offenses in connection with the home invasions, which took place in Irvington on Feb. 16 and Feb. 18, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Detectives from the prosecutor’s office and Irvington determined that the incidents were linked after reviewing surveillance footage, later identifying Auguste as the suspect, authorities said.

Auguste was arrested on Feb. 19. He was charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree burglary, first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree attempted aggravated sexual assault, and fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact.

Auguste is currently in custody at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark and is awaiting a pre-trial detention hearing, prosecutors said.
