Shooter Wounded 2 Teens In Newark; Cops Seek Suspect
Newark police are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot two teens inside a local restaurant, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for the shooter who wounded two teens inside a local restaurant last week, authorities announced Wednesday.
The shooting took place around 3 p.m. on Jan. 11 near South 11th Street and South Orange Avenue. Witnesses told multiple news outlets that the violence happened after an argument took place at a pizzeria, which had several students inside at the time. “At approximately 2:49 p.m., officers patrolling the 300-block of South Orange Avenue were flagged down by an individual who reported that a shooting had taken place inside an area establishment. Responding officers located two juveniles, a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, who had been shot following an altercation involving the boy and two males who entered the establishment. One of the suspects opened fire, shooting both victims, who each was transported to University Hospital for treatment.”
Both victims are reportedly in stable condition, authorities said Wednesday.
The alleged shooter fled the scene, heading eastbound on South Orange Avenue. Newark police have since released surveillance photos of the suspect (see below).
