Shooting In Newark; 22-Year-Old Victim Dies, Police Say

No arrests have been made, Newark authorities said Monday.

NEWARK, NJ — A shooting claimed the life of a 22-year-old victim in Newark on Sunday, authorities said.

Tyree R. Quinones, 22, of Newark was fatally shot on the 100-block of Sunset Avenue at 10:30 p.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Public Safety Department.

Emergency responders transported Quinones to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:55 a.m. on Monday, authorities said.

No arrests have been made, police said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the shooting.
