NEWARK, NJ — Students at an elementary school in Newark recently wrapped up their academic year with a smile-inducing “kindness carnival.”

Students and staff at Franklin School – located in the city’s North Ward – held the carnival before dismissing for summer break.

The festivities included having students create videos that incorporated “kindness” in the form of either a dance, song or poem. The results were compiled and live-streamed at the end of the day.

Classes at the school also completed 100 acts of kindness, which were documented on a poster and displayed at the carnival, where 6th and 7th grade students created stations for the younger students to participate in a variety of games that revolved around the event’s theme.

“We are very excited for our students to showcase and express acts of kindness they have learned and they are really looking forward to the fun they will have at the Kindness Carnival,” principal Amy Panitch said prior to the festivities.
