Starbucks Opens At Newark Penn; $1.6M Revenue For NJ Transit
Starbucks has put about $750,000 of leasehold improvements into the new location, NJ Transit stated.

NEWARK, NJ — Starbucks has officially arrived at Newark Penn Station.
Last week, a new Starbucks began serving customers at Newark Penn Station’s main concourse, capping off a business deal that began in August 2018, when NJ Transit’s board of directors approved the lease of more than 1,000 square feet of retail space at the busy transit hub to the Starbucks Corporation.
Starbucks will be open seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week. Weekend hours begin at 6:00 a.m.

According to NJ Transit, the partnership will provide more than $1.6 million in non-farebox revenue over the 10-year lease.

“We are very pleased to welcome Starbucks to Newark Penn Station and look forward to a long and beneficial partnership with them,” NJ Transit President and CEO Kevin Corbett said. “Non-fare box, revenue generating opportunities like this are critical to securing the funding to put NJ Transit back into national prominence while keeping ticket prices stable.”
