Stolen Car, Garbage Truck Crash In Newark; 1 Killed, 2 Hurt

A stolen car with four juveniles inside and a garbage truck collided, killing one of the youths and injuring two others, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A recent crash involving a stolen car and a garbage truck in Newark killed a juvenile and left two others injured, authorities announced Monday.

The two-vehicle crash took place around 4:32 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Central Avenue and 1st Street, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

“The car, which was later discovered to be stolen, contained four juveniles. One fled the scene, two were treated for injuries at University Hospital, and one was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:47 a.m. The driver of the truck was uninjured.”
