‘Strutt Your Mutt’ At Branch Brook Park: 2023 Halloween Event
The park – located in Newark and Belleville – will be going to the dogs on Oct. 21.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Branch Brook Park will be going to the dogs again this Halloween season.
Essex County will hold its annual series of free canine Halloween costume parades and contests at three parks for 2024: Branch Brook, Brookdale and Grover Cleveland.
The parade and costume contest at Branch Brook Park – which is located in Newark and Belleville – will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21 on Heller Parkway. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the parade begins at 10 a.m. The rain date is Oct. 22.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places in a variety of categories. For more information, call 973-268-3500.
Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said the county’s dog parks have become popular places for dog owners to bring their faithful companions.

“In turn, the canine costume parades are growing into a favorite Halloween celebration for everyone to enjoy,” DiVincenzo said. “Whether you own a dog or not, we invite you to come see creative costumes worn by dogs of all breeds.”
