NEWARK, NJ — Newark’s public schools are seeing a rise in student enrollment that is among the highest in the nation, administrators say.

Newark, which has the largest public school district in New Jersey, has been experiencing a “substantial” increase in student enrollment for the past five years, according to a Friday update from the Newark Board of Education.

More than 1,000 new students have been added to the district’s roster this year alone, administrators said.
