Summer Jobs For Youth In Newark: How To Apply For Popular Program
Newark residents between the ages of 14 to 24 can apply for jobs that earn up to $16 per hour. Here's what to know for 2025.
NEWARK, NJ — Are you a teen or young adult looking for a summer job that can also put some valuable work experience on your resume? Applications for the Summer Youth Employment Program in Newark are now open, officials say.
Local youth can get the chance to work up to 16 hours per week through the city’s annual program, earning up to $16 per hour.
The program is only open to Newark residents between the ages of 14 to 24. The 2025 deadline is April 28. Learn more here, and apply online here.

According to the Newark Youth One Stop Career Center, demand for the program is very high: there were 3,289 applicants for 1,945 work opportunities last year.
“Each year we have more applicants than job openings,” its website states. “We encourage you to keep looking and applying for other opportunities while you wait to hear about your application.”
