Suspect Stabs Victim Multiple Times In Newark, Flees Scene: Police
The assailant motioned like he was going to shake the victim's hand – but stabbed him instead, police said.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed a victim several times on Sunday, authorities said.
According to the Newark Public Safety Department, the incident took place around 1:30 a.m. as the victim was sitting on the steps outside a home on the 20-block of Fleming Avenue.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect come out of the property and motion as if he was going to shake the victim’s hand. The suspect then stabs the victim several times in the back and flees the scene eastbound on Fleming Avenue, police said.

The victim was treated at University Hospital for injuries to the back of his shoulders and neck, authorities said.
Police said the victim knows the suspect. Authorities released a photo of the alleged assailant (see below).
