Taxi Cab Driver Carjacked In Newark; Police Search For Suspect
Police are searching for a man who carjacked a taxi cab driver at gunpoint in Newark, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — Police are searching for a man who carjacked a taxi cab driver at gunpoint on Sunday in Newark, authorities said.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the carjacking took place around 8:30 p.m. on the 1000-block of South Orange Avenue.
Police said a man brandishing a gun approached the cab driver as they were sitting in their vehicle. The suspect ordered the driver to get out of the car, then drove away in the vehicle eastbound on South Orange Avenue and southbound on Sanford Avenue.

Newark police said the suspect was wearing a blue sweatshirt with a hooded sweater. The vehicle was a silver-colored 2015 Ford Taurus, has a Classic Cab logo and has a New Jersey license plate (OT978A).
