Teen Dies In Newark Shooting, 4 Others Wounded And Hospitalized
Five people were hit by gunfire during a shooting that took place near the border of Newark and East Orange, authorities say.
NEWARK, NJ — A teen died and four other people were hit by gunfire during a shooting that took place near the border of Newark and East Orange on Monday night, authorities say.
Newark police responded to a shooting on the 300-block of 6th Avenue around 11:40 p.m., according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Five people were struck by gunfire, including Brandyn Waters, 18, of Paterson, who was hit in the chest. Waters was pronounced dead at University Hospital.

The four other male victims – who included two 19-year-olds, a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old – were also taken to the hospital, prosecutors said.
An investigation continues, authorities said Wednesday.
