Teen Fatally Shot At Newark Intersection, 3 Arrested: Police
Police said an Elizabeth resident was shot to death as he sat in his vehicle. Three people have been arrested, including a teen from Newark.
NEWARK, NJ — Three people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen in Newark earlier this week, authorities announced Thursday.
The fatal shooting took place on Sunday evening at the intersection of Mapes Terrace and Huntington Terrace, according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Prosecutors said Wed Thalerand, 18, of Elizabeth, was shot to death while he sat in his vehicle.

Police have since arrested two juveniles – who were not named – and Zaire Kelly, 18, of Newark in connection with the shooting. All face multiple criminal charges, including first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, first-degree robbery and weapons offenses.
If found guilty, Kelly could face 30 years in prison. The juveniles could face 20 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.
