Teenage Girl Shot In Newark, Police Search For Suspect

A 36-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old girl, police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police have identified a suspect in the shooting of a teenage girl two months ago, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the shooting took place March 24 at South 6th Street near Cabinet Street.

Police said a 17-year-old girl was shot following an altercation with a woman she knows. The victim was transported to University Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives have identified Annette Reyes, 36, of Newark, as a suspect in the shooting (see photos below). A warrant has been issued for her arrest on charges of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.
