Threat Against Plane Flying To Newark Under Investigation: Authorities

The Air Canada plane landed safely, and a canine unit has fully cleared the aircraft, according to the Port Authority.

NEWARK, NJ — A threat was reported against an airplane Monday as it flew into Newark, authorities told Patch.

The threat, reported around noon, came against an Air Canada flight traveling from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Newark Liberty International Airport, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The plane landed at Terminal A without incident, and all passengers have deplaned safely, officials said.

Officials didn't disclose the nature of the threat. But at 2:52 p.m., Port Authority police and its canine unit fully cleared the aircraft.

No injuries were reported, and normal operations have resumed.

The aircraft had departed late Monday morning from Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Eastern Canada and reached Newark at 1:40 p.m., according to flight records.

The incident remains under investigation.
