Tiempo Libre @ NJPAC on July, 14 5PM (FREE)

One of today's hottest Latin bands – a triple Grammy nominee – celebrates Afro-Caribbean music at Horizon Foundation Sounds of the City.

“Dance music of sophistication and abandon” (The New York Times)

Equally at home in concert halls, jazz clubs and dance venues, Tiempo Libre is acclaimed for its sophisticated tropical music, featuring an irresistible, exhilarating mix of jazz harmonies, contemporary sonorities and seductive Latin rhythms. Throughout the past 14 years, the band has appeared around the globe and has appeared on TV’s The Tonight Show, Live from Lincoln Center and Dancing with the Stars, as well as many entertainment programs on Univision and Telemundo.

Opening the concert is the Nicki Denner Trio. Pianist and composer Nicki Denner, a musician who has worked with Sheila E., Savion Glover, Doc Severinsen and many jazz artists here and abroad, is musical director for the group Cocomama. Her recording Moliendo Café was named one of the “Top 10 Picks of 2006” by Latin Beat magazine.
