Tough Monday Morning For Essex County Bus Riders: Breakdowns, Delays

NJ Transit: Traffic incidents impacted or involved Newark, Montclair, Livingston, East Orange, Bloomfield, Maplewood, Irvington and Orange.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A mixture of traffic and mechanical issues caused a tough Monday morning commute for bus riders in Essex County, NJ Transit reported.

Here are some of the incidents that took place in the county, according to the agency’s website and the North Jersey Buses Twitter account:

  • Bus route 11, the 9:04 AM arrival into Bloomfield, was delayed due to a mechanical issue.
  • Bus route 13, the 6:14 AM arrival into Irvington, was disabled and awaited mechanical assistance in Newark.
  • Bus route 25, the 7:33 AM arrival into Newark, was disabled and awaited mechanical assistance in Maplewood. Bus route 25, the 7:46 AM departure from Newark Penn Lanes to Springfield Avenue at S. 10th Street, did not operate due to a mechanical issue.
  • Bus route 29, the 7:39 AM departure from Parsippany-Troy Hills to Newark, was disabled and awaited mechanical assistance.
  • Bus route 34, the 9:45 AM arrival into Montclair, was delayed due to an accessibility issue in Newark.
  • Bus route 41, the 6:40 AM departure from Orange to Newark, was delayed due to a request for police assistance.
  • Bus route 73, the 10:00 AM arrival into the Livingston Mall, was delayed due to a motor vehicle accident in East Orange.
  • Bus route 76, the 7:49 AM departure from the Hackensack Bus Terminal to Newark Penn Lanes, did not operate due to a mechanical issue.
  • Bus route 92 operated on a detour in Orange. South Day Street was closed from Main Street to Freeway Drive west for construction.
  • Bus route 94 operated on a detour in East Orange. Central Avenue was closed from Halsted Street to S. Clinton Street due to road work.
