TSA Officers Find Golden Grenade At Newark Airport
The owner allegedly said he was on his way to military training. "Perhaps train guys not to pack grenades," a TSA spokesperson quipped.

NEWARK, NJ — “Perhaps train guys not to pack grenades.” That was the suggestion from a TSA spokesperson after a man allegedly on his way to “military training” tried to bring an inert explosive device though Newark Liberty International Airport on Wednesday.
TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein tweeted:
“Today @TSA officers at @EWRairport detected this golden grenade in a checked bag. Inspection determined it was an actual grenade that had been made inert. Man claimed he was flying to military training. Perhaps train guys not to pack grenades!”
There was "nothing illegal" about the grenade and no arrest resulted. The incident didn't impact passengers, Farbstein told Patch.
