Two Newark men are dead after separate, unrelated shootings Friday in the city, according to authorities.
Troy Shelton, 37, was shot around 4 p.m. at the corner of Grumman and Elizabeth avenues, according to Anthony Ambrose, Essex County chief of detectives. He said Shelton was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he died around 4:30 p.m.
Jackie Pena, 21, was shot around 10 p.m. at 52 Smith St., said Ambrose. He was pronounced dead 20 minutes later at University Hospital, according to the chief.

As of Saturday morning, police identified no suspects or motives.
