Unidentified Body Found In Newark; No Arrests Made, Prosecutors Say

"Human remains" were found in Newark. The cause of death is pending an autopsy, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — Police have launched an investigation after an unidentified body was found in Newark on Thursday.

Newark police got a report around 2:45 p.m. about “human remains” that were found on the 400-block of Elizabeth Avenue. Police located a body outside at that location, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The person was pronounced dead at 3:05 p.m. The cause of death is pending an autopsy, prosecutors said late Thursday evening.

The identity of the deceased hasn’t been established. No arrests have been made, prosecutors said.
