United Launching New Flights From NJ To France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Europe

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — United Airlines plans to launch the largest international network expansion in its history, which will include several new routes out of Newark Airport in New Jersey, the company announced Tuesday.

United is setting up routes to 10 new cities across Europe and Asia, including eight that no other U.S. airline serves. The list includes several new routes flying out of Newark Airport:

• Luxembourg City, Luxembourg
• Marseille, France
• Ibiza, Spain
• Valencia, Spain
• Terceira, Portugal
• Ljubljana, Slovenia
• Olbia (Sardinia), Italy
• Catania (Sicily), Italy

Other routes being planned under the expansion include San Francisco to Okinawa, Japan; and Washington to Toulouse, France.

All new routes are subject to government approval.

United announced its latest expansion Tuesday at Newark Airport, which was attended by CEO Scott Kirby and other top company executives.

United has added 58 international destinations to its route map since 2017, and currently flies to more than 160 international destinations. Beyond the 10 new cities, the airline is adding new flights from Los Angeles to Osaka, Japan; Washington, D.C. to Milan, Italy; Denver to Paris; and will restart service from San Francisco to Tel Aviv, Israel.

In addition, United will be bringing back the new destinations it added in summer 2026 for summer 2027 with flights from Newark/New York to Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

The airline will serve more destinations in Japan, Spain, Portugal, Italy and France than any other U.S. carrier, spokespeople said.
