US Green Building Council New Jersey to Host 2017 Golf Benefit
Support Green Building Education and Infrastructure Training, Reduce the C-Footprint, and Support Green Building Legislative Advocacy.

The 2017 US Green Building Council New Jersey Chapter (USGBC NJ) Golf Benefit will take place on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the scenic Black Oak Golf Club in Long Valley, NJ.
The US Green Building Council NJ Golf Benefit funds green building and green infrastructure education-- LEED and WELL building accreditation programs -- with a goal of attaining a LEED credential and other related training and credentials, greater employment opportunity, and reducing energy demand and the C-footprint. Funding also supports USGBC NJ’s legislation advocacy. New Jersey leads the nation with 29 LEED bills introduced, largely due to USGBC NJ.
“In the face of sea level rise, greater storm intensities, declining drinking water quality and coastal resources, LEED-certified buildings have 34% lower CO2 emissions, consume 25% less energy and 11% less water, and report almost 20% lower maintenance cost,” said Marc Matsil, Executive Director of USGBC NJ. In the US alone, buildings account for nearly 40% of national CO2 emissions (73% in NYC; 60+% in Philadelphia) and out-consume both the industrial and transportation sectors. From 2014 - 16, USGBC NJ provided 150 workshops to 3,700 employees of NJ businesses. There are presently 5,000 LEED credentialed professionals in NJ; nearly 600 LEED -certified buildings, with more than 1,000 registered--comprising 187m sq. ft!
