Victim Forced Into Van, Kidnapped For Cash In Newark: Police
The kidnappers made the victim withdraw $9,000 from her bank account, then let her go, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — A victim was forced into a minivan and kidnapped earlier this month in Newark, with her captors letting her go only after she gave them $9,000 from her bank account, police announced Tuesday.
The incident took place on July 3, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety, which has since released surveillance photos of two suspects and a “vehicle of interest” in the case (see below).

“Police responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on the 100-block of Adams Street. The suspects grabbed the victim by the arm and made her get into a blue Toyota Sienna, where they threatened her and demanded money. They drove to Santander Bank on Ferry Street, and she withdrew the money while one of them waited outside to take her back to the vehicle. The suspects drove the victim to the 300-block of Ferry Street and let her out of the vehicle.”
