Victim Stabbed In Newark; Police Search For Suspect

NEWARK, NJ — Police are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed a victim in Newark earlier this week, authorities announced Wednesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the aggravated assault took place around 11:19 p.m. on Sunday. Officers on patrol near Bloomfield Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue were flagged down by the wounded man, who told them that he was attacked on the 100-block of Bloomfield Avenue.

The victim said his attacker was with a group of people at the time, authorities noted.

The victim was transported to University Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition, police said.

Detectives investigating the incident obtained surveillance camera footage that shows a suspect stabbing the victim, authorities said (see photo below). Police described the suspect as a light-skinned male between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 5 inches and 140 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, a gray and white hooded jacket, and black and white sneakers.
