Wanted Murderer Entered U.S. Illegally, Arrested In Newark: Feds

Federal authorities arrested a convicted murderer in New Jersey after he unlawfully fled to the United States, officials said.

NEWARK, NJ — Federal authorities arrested a convicted murderer in New Jersey last week after he unlawfully fled to the United States from Brazil, officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently announced.

Brazilian authorities convicted the man – who was not named in an official ICE statement – in August 2010 on charges of intentional homicide and attempted homicide. The court sentenced him to 17 years and four months in prison.

According to ICE, the noncitizen unlawfully entered the United States on an unknown date at an unknown location.

He was arrested on March 19 in Newark, federal authorities said.

The arrestee will remain in ICE custody pending his deportation proceedings, authorities said.
