WATCH: Snoop Dogg Says Stop The Violence In Newark For '24 Hours Of Peace’ 2016

NEWARK, NJ — Newark’s “24 Hours of Peace & Occupy the City 2016” event is drawing support from some heavyweight entertainment icons.

The upcoming event – a gathering to be held in support of “peace and anti-violence” in the Newark community through the performing arts – can now count Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli and Big Daddy Kane among its proponents, according to city officials.

The "24 hours of peace" will take place from 12 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, to 12 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21., a city news release stated.

In addition, a public gathering will take place at Newark's "Four Corners" - Broad and Market Streets – at 5 p.m. on Aug. 20. Meet up time is slated for 4 p.m. at the following locations:

  • SOUTH WARD: Clinton Place & Lyons Avenue
  • WEST WARD: South Orange & West End Avenues
  • NORTH WARD: 257 Summer Avenue (Roberto Clemente School)
  • EAST WARD: South Street & Pacific Street
  • CENTRAL WARD: 18th Avenue & Bergen Street
