Weehawken Resident Killed In Newark Car Crash: Authorities
A car crash in Newark killed one person and sent two others to the hospital, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — A car crash in Newark killed one person and sent two others to the hospital on Sunday, authorities said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety issued a joint statement about the crash on Monday. Authorities released the following details:
“On July 9 at 3:24 a.m., Newark police were notified of a two-car crash on U.S. Route 1 & 9 North and McClellan Street in Newark. A driver of one car, Cheikh Faye, 35, of Weehawken, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:47 a.m. A passenger in that car was transported to University Hospital in Newark and was listed in critical condition. The driver of the second car was transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth and treated for nonfatal injuries.”
