West Orange Man Pees On Newark Cop Car, Caught On Video: Police
Ironically, the incident is a sign that a "mutual respect" is building between the city's police and its residents, Newark authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A West Orange man is accused of urinating on a parked Newark police car Saturday night outside a local movie theater, authorities said.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, on Sunday, a member of the public alerted police about a video shot outside the CityPlex movie theater on Springfield Avenue. In the cellphone video, a man can be seen urinating on a marked Newark police SUV while bystanders cheer him on.
The vehicle was unstaffed at the time because officers were on assignment away from the area, authorities said.

The following afternoon, a person alerted police about the video. Officers identified the perpetrator as Tauqeer Boyd, 22, of West Orange and arrested him at his home on Sunday night, authorities said.
Police charged Boyd with lewdness, criminal mischief and disorderly contact.

According to Newark police, Boyd was previously arrested for burglarizing a police cruiser parked outside Hoboken police headquarters last October. During that incident, Boyd and another man allegedly rummaged through the cruiser, threw two summons books on the ground and unzipped a Narcan kit. Boyd was arrested at the scene without incident.
Although the video shows onlookers cheering on Boyd, Newark police said that the fact that a member of the public alerted authorities about it via social media shows that a “mutual respect” is building between the city’s officers and residents.
“The public wants to be respected and wants the police to be respected, too,” Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. “This was not only an insult to us, but a quality of life issue. Newark residents want us to enforce the law and improve the quality of life in the city.”
Ambrose added that local authorities “absolutely will not tolerate disrespect of our police.”
“We take this as a personal insult,” Ambrose said of Saturday’s urination incident. “When our department became aware of this, we moved quickly to apprehend the suspect.”
