Who Says There's No Free Lunch Anymore?
Newark Councilwoman provides healthy mid-day meal amid COVD19 stay-at-home orders.
In spite of all the COVID19 red tape, Newark Councilwoman LaMonica Mciver partnered with prominent eateries, The Halal Guys and Pita Place to offer Newark residents at 999 Broad Street a free lunch on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
The line began to form around 1pm for the promised 1:30pm delivery. Residents spent that time chatting while social-distancing. As neighbors passed on their way, many did not seem to know why there was a line next to an empty table in the lobby. How could they have missed the announcement taped on the elevator wall? Lunch arrived closer to 2pm but it was worth the wait. Check out the delicious chicken and lamb gyro dish napped from The Halal Guys. All that said, the real treat was reconnecting with neighbors.
