Wide Manhunt After 4 Shot At Cops In Chase Near Newark Airport

Three suspects are on the loose after they shot at police in the area of the airport, police said. One was caught after a chase.

A widespread manhunt was underway on Monday after four suspects shot at off-duty police officers during a chase near Newark Liberty International Airport this weekend, police said.

The four attackers shot at two off-duty Newark police officers and the wife of one of the cops on Sunday morning near Newark airport, prompting a police pursuit of four people, police said.

The off-duty officers didn't return fire after their vehicle was struck by gunfire near Routes 1 and 9 south just after 3:30 a.m., according to police. The shooters also tried to run the police off the road, authorities said.
