Woman Arrested For Bringing Stun Gun To Essex County Courthouse
Court authorities stopped her at Veterans Courthouse in Newark.
Court authorities arrested a Newark woman on Wednesday when she tried to bring a stun gun into the Essex County Superior Court complex on West Market Street.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Office reported that officers stopped Shaquai Brown, 24, from entering Veterans Courthouse at 1:30 p.m.
Officers detected the weapon via the complex’s east entrance X-ray machine.

Brown had reportedly come to the court complex to obtain information about a pending matter in Tenant-Landlord court.
“The taser device was disguised to resemble a cell phone,” noted Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura. “Our officers were really on the ball in identifying this dangerous weapon for what it was.”

Brown was issued a summons for possession of a stun gun and released on her own recognizance.
