Woman Attacked, Robbed As She Got Off Bus In Newark: Police
Three women attacked and robbed someone. When the victim followed them to get her belongings back, she was assaulted again, police said.
NEWARK, NJ — Three women attacked and robbed another woman as she got off the bus in Newark last month, authorities say.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the incident took place on Aug. 19. Here’s what happened, authorities said:
“At approximately 5 p.m., a female victim exited an NJ Transit bus at Randolph Place and Clinton Place. She was followed by the three female suspects, who also exited the bus, to the location of Vernon Avenue near Leo Place. The suspects grabbed the victim by her hair, shoved her to the ground, kicked and punched her, before robbing her of her cell phone and purse containing $250 in cash. The suspects then ran westbound on Clinton Place. The victim followed the group in an attempt to get her belongings back, but they assaulted her again in front of University High School on Clinton Place.”
Police released surveillance photos of the three suspects (see below). Detectives described Suspect #1 as a white female with red hair, wearing a black short-sleeve shirt, and black sweatpants. Suspect# 2 is described as a Black female, tall with long braids, wearing a white and green shirt, and jean shorts. Suspect# 3 is described as a white or Hispanic female, wearing a brown shirt, light blue pants, and green sneakers.

Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the Police Division’s website.
