Woman Charged With Murder After Body Found In Newark Parking Lot

Police arrested a woman in Pennsylvania after a body was found in a Newark parking lot.

NEWARK, NJ — Police arrested a woman in Pennsylvania and charged her with murder after a body was found in a Newark parking lot last week, authorities said.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the body of Raul Rios, 34, was found at 8:58 a.m. on Sept. 28 in a parking lot on the 400-block of Springfield Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 9:34 a.m.

After reviewing video footage, Stephanie Martinez, 39, was identified as a suspect. State police arrested Martinez at the Fogelsville Barracks in Pennsylvania.

Martinez has been charged with murder, felony murder, robbery and theft.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating Rios’ death.
