Woman, Child Robbed At Gunpoint In Newark; Police Seek Suspect
An armed man took a woman's money, phone and purse. Newark police released photos of the accused robber.
NEWARK, NJ — An armed man robbed a woman and child at gunpoint in Newark last week, police said.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, officers responded to the 100-block of Bloomfield Avenue at 7:20 p.m. on May 7 after getting a call about an armed robbery. A woman said she and her child were approached by a man, who demanded her money at gunpoint. The victim stole $500 in cash from the victim, as well as her cell phone and her purse, which contained credit cards and other personal belongings.
Detectives said they are searching for a man about 5 feet 6 inches, who was wearing all-black clothing and a ski mask (see below surveillance photo).
