A woman was killed by a car in a New Jersey police chase on Saturday, police said. A male suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at-large.
Police confirmed that the unidentified woman was killed in Newark overnight and said the Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating
.The person was killed during a police pursuit that ended in Newark's South Ward after authorities were following a vehicle wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred in East Orange earlier in the day, according to RLS Media.

The vehicle refused to stop for Newark Police and sped away, according to RLS. The suspect's vehicle slammed into a car in the vicinity of Avon Avenue and South 14th Street a short time later. EMS rushed the female to University Hospital where she died sometime overnight.
