Worker Had Fatal Injury Inside Elevator Shaft At Newark Building: PD

NEWARK, NJ — A man died after suffering an injury inside an elevator shaft at an under-construction building in Newark last weekend, authorities say.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, officers responded to a construction site at 10 Commerce Court at 9:09 a.m. on Saturday after getting a call about an injured worker.

The victim – a male – was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m., authorities said.

An investigation into the death continues, police said. No additional information was immediately available.
